Algiers – The Council of Ministers has approved an increase in the unemployment benefit, raising it from DZD 15,000 to DZD 18,000. The decision was made during a meeting held earlier today, Sunday, November 30, 2025, and presided over by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, according to a statement released by the Council.
The increase aims to provide greater financial support to unemployed individuals actively seeking employment. The move is expected to alleviate some of the economic pressures faced by job seekers during their search for work. The government hopes that this enhanced benefit will contribute to improved living standards and promote a more stable economic environment for those currently without employment.
The revised unemployment benefit will be implemented in the coming weeks, with details regarding the application process and eligibility criteria to be announced shortly by the relevant government agencies. The Council of Ministers emphasized its commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and fostering inclusive economic growth.
This adjustment reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to address unemployment and provide a safety net for citizens actively participating in the labor market. The increase in the unemployment benefit is part of a broader strategy to promote economic stability and social welfare across the nation. Further measures are expected to be announced in the near future to further support employment initiatives and economic development.
