Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Ataf, met today with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahamat Ali Youssouf, on the sidelines of the 12th High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa, known as the “Oran Process.”
During the meeting, the two officials discussed the latest political and security developments across the African continent. Discussions focused on the growing challenges posed by the complexities of the current international landscape.
Both parties exchanged views on developments in the Sahel region, in addition to updates on the Western Sahara issue, and the role played by the African Union in addressing these sensitive matters.
This meeting underscores the joint efforts to strengthen coordination and consultation on regional issues, and to support endeavors to establish peace and stability in Africa. The discussions highlighted the importance of collaborative approaches to address the multifaceted challenges facing the continent.
The Oran Process, of which this meeting was a part, continues to serve as a crucial platform for dialogue and cooperation among African nations and international partners, with the shared goal of fostering a more secure and prosperous future for the continent.
