Algiers, December 1, 2025 – Algeria and Belarus are set to enhance industrial and agricultural cooperation following a high-level meeting in Algiers. Minister of Industry, Yahia Bachir, received a Belarusian delegation led by Minister of Industry, Andrei Kuznetsov, and Minister of Agriculture and Food, Yuri Golov, at the Ministry headquarters on Monday.
The discussions centered on strengthening collaboration between the two nations, opening new avenues for partnership and solidifying Algerian-Belarusian economic integration. Opportunities for cooperation in the industrial sector were explored, with a particular focus on mechanical industries.
Minister Bachir emphasized the importance of practical partnerships in manufacturing tractors and agricultural machinery through the Algerian Mechanical Group (AGM). He also advocated for expanding partnerships to include plastics, chemicals, electrical appliances, and iron and steel industries, encouraging Belarusian subcontractors and spare parts manufacturers to invest in Algeria.
Minister Kuznetsov reaffirmed Belarus’s readiness to establish joint production units with AGM in the mechanical industries sector. He stressed the significance of enhanced cooperation in technology transfer to improve productivity and industrial efficiency in Algeria. Furthermore, Belarus expressed interest in investing in the textile sector in partnership with GETEX, focusing on meeting local market needs and expanding export opportunities.
Both parties explored cooperation in agriculture, particularly in milk and dairy production, grain cultivation, meat production, and seed development. These collaborations aim to bolster integration, support agricultural production chains, and enhance national food security.
A joint follow-up mechanism will be established to ensure the implementation of all industrial and agricultural projects and partnerships. Regular progress evaluations will be conducted to guarantee the achievement of strategic objectives and promote deeper economic integration between Algeria and Belarus.
