Algiers, DZWatch – Algeria is actively championing a unified African voice to amplify the continent’s presence and influence within international decision-making centers. This initiative, known as the ‘Oran Path 2025’, underscores Algeria’s commitment to fostering greater unity and collaboration among African nations.
Speaking at a high-level international conference, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, emphasized that Africa’s ability to solidify its position on the global stage hinges on its adherence to unity and a singular, cohesive voice. He cautioned that continental divisions only weaken Africa’s standing and diminish its impact within international power structures.
Minister Attaf stressed the urgent need for increased coordination and closer cooperation among African countries, particularly in multilateral forums where a unified stance is essential to reflect the continent’s aspirations and geopolitical weight. He highlighted Algeria’s strategic and unwavering commitment to this endeavor, emphasizing its dedication to strengthening the African voice on the international stage and reinforcing its role in global peace and security issues.
The ‘Oran Path’ serves as a crucial diplomatic platform, bringing together African leaders and United Nations partners at a pivotal moment. The opening session witnessed significant diplomatic attendance, reflecting the political weight of the ‘Oran Path’ and Algeria’s growing role in promoting joint African action.
The session was attended by key figures including the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Côte d’Ivoire (also the Chairperson of the African Union Peace and Security Council), and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sahrawi Republic. High-ranking officials from the African Union and the United Nations, including the UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, were also present.
Algeria views the ‘Oran Path’ as a vital mechanism for ensuring that Africa’s concerns and perspectives are effectively represented in global dialogues and decision-making processes.
