Algiers – The Algerian News Agency (APS) has officially launched its Chinese language news service, marking a significant step in its international outreach. The announcement coincided with the agency’s 64th anniversary celebrations, attended by key figures in Algerian media and government.
The Minister of Communication, Zohir Bouamama, presided over the anniversary ceremony, highlighting the APS’s crucial role in the Algerian media landscape. The event was also attended by Kamal Sidi Said, Advisor to the President of the Republic in charge of the General Directorate of Communication, and Amar Takjout, Secretary-General of the General Union of Algerian Workers, alongside other prominent media officials.
The launch of the Chinese language service represents a major expansion for the APS, allowing it to reach a wider global audience and strengthen its international presence. This new addition joins the agency’s existing language services, which include Arabic, Tamazight, French, English, Spanish, and Russian.
Officials present at the ceremony emphasized that this initiative underscores Algeria’s commitment to diversifying its media outreach and engaging with a broader international audience. This is particularly relevant given the growing cooperation and strong ties between Algeria and China.
This development reflects the evolving role of the APS as a national and international platform, dedicated to keeping pace with media transformations and providing multilingual content that meets the demands of a global audience. The agency aims to be a reliable source of news and information, bridging cultures and fostering understanding through accurate and timely reporting.
