Algeria and Belarus Forge Promising Industrial and Agricultural Partnerships

Algiers, Algeria – A high-level Belarusian delegation, led by the Minister of Industry, Andrei Kuznetsov, and the Minister of Agriculture and Food, Yuri Golov, recently met with the Algerian Minister of Industry, Yahia Bachir, at the Ministry headquarters. This meeting, also attended by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Fisheries, representing Minister Yacine El Mahdi Walid, marks a pivotal moment in establishing a new foundation for industrial and agricultural cooperation between Algeria and Belarus, aiming to bolster economic integration.

Discussions centered on advancing collaboration in the mechanical industries, particularly in the manufacturing of agricultural equipment and machinery, wheat processing, iron silo production, high-powered tractors and machinery, vehicles for mining and industrial activities, and trucks. Minister Bachir urged the swift implementation of a partnership in tractor and agricultural machinery manufacturing through the AGM Group, emphasizing the importance of expanding cooperation to include the plastics, chemical, electrical, household appliance, and iron and steel industries. He also stressed the need to encourage Belarusian subcontractors and spare parts manufacturers to invest directly in Algeria.

The Belarusian Minister of Industry reaffirmed his country’s readiness to establish joint production units with the AGM Group in the mechanical industries, highlighting Minsk’s desire to enhance technology transfer and expertise to improve productivity and industrial efficiency. He also expressed particular interest in investing in the textile sector in partnership with the GETEX Group, with the goal of meeting local market needs and exporting.

In the agricultural domain, the two sides discussed opportunities to develop cooperation in the production of milk and dairy products, grains, meat, and seeds – areas crucial for food security. This cooperation aims to support agricultural production chains and strengthen agricultural integration between the two countries.

Both parties agreed to establish a joint follow-up mechanism to implement the proposed projects and partnerships and to monitor their progress regularly. This mechanism will ensure the achievement of strategic objectives for both sides and solidify long-term economic cooperation between Algeria and Belarus. This agreement signifies a commitment to a stronger, mutually beneficial economic relationship.
