Algiers, Algeria – Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, held discussions today with representatives from WEG, a leading Brazilian manufacturer of electrical and electronic equipment, exploring avenues for enhanced collaboration in the energy sector.
The meeting, held at the Ministry headquarters, saw the participation of Francisco Martinez, General Manager of WEG, as well as Toufik Hakkar, CEO of Sonatrach, and Reda Belhadj, CEO of Sonarem, alongside senior officials from the Ministry.
The discussions centered on potential partnerships in various areas, including the supply of electrical equipment for Algeria’s expanding energy infrastructure projects. Minister Arkab emphasized Algeria’s commitment to diversifying its energy partnerships and attracting foreign investment to bolster the sector’s growth.
“We are keen to explore mutually beneficial opportunities with WEG, leveraging their expertise in electrical and electronic equipment manufacturing to support our ongoing and future projects,” stated Minister Arkab.
The meeting underscores Algeria’s strategic focus on strengthening its ties with international companies to enhance its industrial capabilities and technological advancements in the hydrocarbons and mining sectors. It also reinforces the government’s commitment to creating a favorable environment for foreign investment, contributing to the nation’s economic development.
Further discussions are planned to delve into specific projects and finalize cooperation agreements between Sonatrach, Sonarem, and WEG.
