The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Côte d’Ivoire, Kakou Houaja Léon Adom, has emphasized that African unity is the only viable path to confronting the growing challenges facing the continent.
Speaking to DZWatch on the sidelines of the closing of the 12th High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa, the “Oran Process,” held Tuesday at the International Conference Center, the Ivorian Foreign Minister explained that the continent faces a complex array of plagues, such as terrorism, crime, and especially transnational crime.
In this context, Kakou Houaja Léon stressed that African unity remains the strongest weapon in facing these challenges. He further commended Algeria for the excellent organization of the 12th session of the “Oran Process,” providing all the necessary conditions for the continental event and advocating for African unity.
He added that the current session differs from its predecessors because it addresses new challenges that have emerged on the continent, praising the warm reception and distinguished treatment received by the participants in the Oran Process during their stay in Algeria.
It should be noted that the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, oversaw the closing of the 12th session of the High-Level Conference on Peace and Security in Africa, the “Oran Process,” on Tuesday.
In his closing remarks, the Foreign Minister reiterated the importance of strengthening African unity, calling for empowering the African Union with a pivotal role in preventing crises and resolving conflicts amidst the escalating challenges facing the continent.
Attaf stressed that the principle of African solutions to African problems is now imposing itself as a strategic option that would spare the continent the risks of current international polarization.
