The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ahmed Ataf, received his counterpart from the Republic of Zimbabwe, Frederick Musowa Shava, today, Sunday, at the ministry’s headquarters.

A statement from the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Musowa Shava arrived in Algeria to participate in the twentieth ministerial meeting of African and North European countries, which is set to commence tomorrow.

The meeting provided an opportunity to review the cooperation between the two countries and the prospects for enhancing it in light of the upcoming bilateral events, as well as consultation and coordination on various regional and international issues that fall within the interests of both countries.

The discussions particularly focused on the deteriorating situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, especially in the Gaza Strip, which is experiencing dire conditions due to the escalating attacks by the occupying force. Both sides renewed their call on international organizations and bodies to take action to put an end to the heinous crimes committed against the Palestinian people and hold those responsible accountable.

The heads of diplomacy of both countries also exchanged views and analyses on the latest developments at the continental level, especially ways and prospects for making a joint contribution to enhance common African action and revitalize the role of the continental organization in promoting and embodying the values, principles, and objectives upon which it was founded.
