Qatari PM: Full Israeli Withdrawal Key to Gaza Ceasefire

Doha, Qatar – Negotiations aimed at securing a lasting ceasefire in Gaza are at a critical juncture, according to Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. Speaking at the Doha Forum on Saturday, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for a complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the region to achieve a comprehensive resolution.

Sheikh Mohammed stated that mediators are actively working to advance efforts towards the next phase of a ceasefire, with Qatar playing a central role in mediating an end to the conflict. “We are at a critical moment. We have not yet achieved our goal, so what we have done so far is just a temporary pause,” he explained.

The Prime Minister stressed that a true ceasefire is unattainable without a full Israeli withdrawal, the restoration of stability in Gaza, and the ability for residents to move freely. “We cannot consider it a ceasefire yet. A ceasefire cannot be complete without a full withdrawal of Israeli forces, a return to stability in Gaza, and the ability for the population to enter and exit. This is not the case today,” he asserted.

Ongoing discussions are focused on implementing the subsequent phases of a plan to end the conflict in Gaza. The details of this plan remain sensitive as mediators work to bridge the remaining gaps between the parties. The international community is closely watching these developments, hoping for a breakthrough that will bring lasting peace and security to the region.
