Algiers, December 7, 2025 – Algeria is actively pursuing stronger development cooperation ties with the African Union. Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, held a high-level meeting on Sunday with the Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Salma Melika Hadadi.
The meeting took place at the Ministry headquarters in Algiers, on the sidelines of Hadadi’s participation in the 4th edition of the African Conference on Emerging Enterprises.
During the discussions, both parties reviewed the existing cooperation between Algeria and the African Union in various development sectors. Particular attention was given to initiatives falling under the umbrella of the African Union’s Agenda 2063. This ambitious agenda outlines a strategic framework for the socio-economic transformation of the continent over the next four decades.
Minister Attaf reiterated Algeria’s commitment to supporting African-led development initiatives and fostering greater integration across the continent. He emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to address key challenges facing Africa, including poverty, infrastructure deficits, and climate change.
Deputy Chairperson Hadadi expressed her appreciation for Algeria’s consistent support and contributions to the African Union’s development programs. She highlighted Algeria’s role as a key partner in promoting peace, security, and stability throughout the region.
The meeting served as a platform to identify new avenues for cooperation and to strengthen the existing partnership between Algeria and the African Union. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to working together to achieve the goals of Agenda 2063 and to build a more prosperous and sustainable future for the African continent.
