The Speaker of the People’s National Assembly of Algeria, Ibrahim Boghali, was received today by his Qatari counterpart, Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim, at the headquarters of the Qatari Shura Council. This meeting took place within the framework of an official visit to the State of Qatar.
The encounter provided an opportunity for both parties to explore avenues for strengthening cooperation, dialogue, and the exchange of expertise between the two legislative bodies. Discussions also encompassed a range of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
On this occasion, Boghali congratulated the Speaker of the Qatari Shura Council on his renewed mandate for a second term. He commended Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim’s extensive experience and his active role in enhancing parliamentary cooperation and coordination at both regional and international levels.
He also extended his congratulations to the State of Qatar, its leadership, and its people on the occasion of their National Day, which falls on December 18th. Boghali lauded the distinguished historical relations between the two countries and the developmental progress that Qatar is witnessing across various sectors.
Boghali expressed his appreciation for the cooperation with representatives of the Qatari Shura Council in regional and international parliamentary bodies, acknowledging their competence and high level of performance. In this context, he emphasized the need to strengthen joint efforts within the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union and elevate it to meet the aspirations of the Arab peoples, calling for enhanced coordination in various international forums.
He also underscored the importance of parliamentary friendship groups in exchanging legislative and oversight expertise, advocating for the expansion of cooperation to include the administrative field as well.
For his part, the Speaker of the Qatari Shura Council praised the distinguished level of bilateral relations between the two countries, stressing the need to strengthen and develop them at all levels.
At the conclusion of the talks, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding for parliamentary cooperation between the two councils, based on the principles of equality, mutual trust, and common interests. Boghali considered this memorandum an important mechanism for strengthening coordination and giving new impetus to joint parliamentary work between the two sides.
