Algeria, Tunisia Aim for Strategic Partnership

Tunis, December 11, 2025 – During an official visit to Tunisia, Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Ghrib affirmed the shared commitment to elevating Algerian-Tunisian partnership to a level of strategic integration. His statement followed a meeting with Tunisian President Kais Saied.

Prime Minister Ghrib conveyed greetings from Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, emphasizing President Tebboune’s keen interest in strengthening Algerian-Tunisian cooperation. This vision stems from President Tebboune’s state visit to Tunisia in December 2021, which laid the groundwork for a new approach to economic integration and integrated development between the two nations.

President Saied reciprocated with deep appreciation for President Tebboune, expressing his determination to continue joint efforts to enhance bilateral partnership and elevate it to the highest levels. He affirmed the alignment of visions between the two countries’ leadership regarding the future of cooperation.

Discussions also centered on preparations for the upcoming session of the Joint Algerian-Tunisian High Commission, scheduled for tomorrow. Both sides underscored the importance of leveraging this opportunity to bolster the legal and institutional framework for cooperation and create a more conducive environment for partnership development that serves the interests of both populations.

The talks further encompassed prospects for investment and trade exchange, particularly in light of the Algerian-Tunisian Economic Forum taking place this evening, with broad participation from economic actors on both sides. Sifi Ghrib described the forum as a pivotal step towards building an integrated economic partnership that contributes to shared development and new opportunities in both countries.

Regional issues were also addressed, with both sides reaffirming the convergence of views between Algeria and Tunisia on current developments, primarily the Palestinian cause, as well as discussing the situation in Libya and ways to support the political process there to ensure the stability of the neighboring country.
