United Nations, New York – The A3+ group within the United Nations Security Council, comprised of Algeria, Somalia, Sierra Leone, and Guyana, today called for the facilitation of humanitarian aid delivery across Central African nations. The appeal was made during a session at the UN headquarters in New York.
The A3+ emphasized the urgent need to streamline the movement of essential supplies and assistance to vulnerable populations throughout the region. They highlighted the critical role of unimpeded access for humanitarian organizations to effectively address the growing needs on the ground.
“Ensuring the swift and efficient delivery of humanitarian aid is paramount to alleviating suffering and supporting stability in Central Africa,” a representative from the A3+ stated. “We urge all stakeholders to cooperate in removing obstacles that hinder the provision of life-saving assistance.”
In addition to advocating for improved aid access, the A3+ also strongly condemned the ongoing terrorist activities in the Lake Chad region. The group expressed deep concern over the destabilizing impact of these acts of violence on civilian populations and the overall humanitarian situation.
The A3+ reaffirmed its commitment to working with regional partners and the international community to address the complex challenges facing Central Africa. They emphasized the importance of a comprehensive approach that combines humanitarian assistance with long-term development initiatives to foster sustainable peace and security.
The Security Council is expected to further discuss the situation in Central Africa in the coming weeks, with a focus on strengthening humanitarian response efforts and addressing the root causes of instability.
