Algerian President Abdelmajid Tebboune hosts Tunisian parliamentary delegation, led by Ibrahim Bouderbala, highlighting convergence in political positions and a joint stand on international issues.

In a significant diplomatic encounter aimed at bolstering mutual cooperation, Algerian President Abdelmajid Tebboune recently welcomed Ibrahim Bouderbala, the President of Tunisia’s Assembly of People’s Representatives. Accompanied by Ibrahim Boughali, President of the Algerian People’s National Assembly, and Nadhir Arbaoui, the Chief of Staff of the Algerian presidency, the meeting symbolized the deep-rooted ties between the two nations.

According to a statement issued by the Algerian presidency, this meeting was particularly notable as it marked the first foreign visit of the Tunisian parliamentary delegation. Bouderbala emphasized the symbolism of the visit, stating, “Beyond our shared history and present realities, there’s a hopeful aspiration to build a united future.”

Over the course of the meeting, which took place from October 24 to 27, the leaders engaged in productive dialogues with various Algerian government members and presiding officers from both chambers of the Algerian parliament. The visit reasserted the affinity between the political directions of Tunisia and Algeria, especially concerning their unified stand on pressing international matters.

Bouderbala underlined the consonance between both nations, specifically regarding their aligned viewpoints on recent developments in Gaza. Both countries expressed their unequivocal condemnation of what they termed as “inhumane offenses against the unarmed Palestinian populace,” perpetrated amid “an unsettling global silence and a blatant disregard for human rights principles by certain nations.”

To build upon these foundational ties, Bouderbala advocated for the strengthening of multi-faceted relations that span academic, cultural, social, and economic spheres. Such an approach, he argued, would ensure a healthy and hopeful environment for the rising generations in both nations.

In closing, Bouderbala commended President Tebboune’s analytical and forward-looking perspectives on bilateral relations, stating, “They reassure us about the present and future of our children who are growing up in a nation marked by hope and tranquility.”

The meeting serves as a testament to the enduring solidarity between Algeria and Tunisia, a solidarity enriched by common values and fortified by a shared vision for the future.
