Global Outrage Over Bondi Beach Shooting in Sydney

Sydney, Australia – International leaders have expressed outrage and condemnation following a mass shooting at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, on Sunday. The attack, which targeted a Jewish celebration, resulted in at least 11 fatalities and numerous injuries.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described the attack as targeting Australian Jews on the first day of Hanukkah, a day meant for joy and celebration. He stated that law enforcement and security agencies are working to identify and apprehend anyone connected to this “atrocity.”

Opposition Leader Susan Ley said, “Australians are deeply saddened tonight at a time when violent hatred has struck at the heart of an iconic Australian community… a place we all know and love… Bondi.”

In Washington, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated, “There is no place for antisemitism in this world. Our hearts go out to the victims of this horrific attack, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.”

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the news as “deeply distressing.” He added, “The UK sends condolences to everyone affected by the appalling attack at Bondi Beach.”

New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon stated, “Australia and New Zealand are the closest of friends, we are family. I am shocked by the distressing scenes in Bondi, a place visited by New Zealanders every day… My sympathies and the thoughts of all New Zealanders are with everyone affected.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a strong statement, saying, “Antisemitism is like cancer, it spreads when leaders are silent, and you must replace weakness with action… Today, a horrific crime occurred: a cold-blooded murder. Unfortunately, the death toll is rising every moment.”

Foreign Minister Gideon Saar also expressed shock.
