Following a field visit to Constantine, Minister of Culture and Arts, Malika Bendouda, convened a high-level coordination meeting to immediately implement key initiatives aimed at revitalizing the city’s cultural landscape. The decisions, announced by the Ministry, seek to establish Constantine as a leading cultural hub both nationally and internationally.
The plan includes the issuance of decrees to revive and establish a series of international and national festivals. A key component is the relaunch of the Constantine Film Panorama, coupled with support for amateur film clubs and associations. This initiative aims to solidify Constantine’s role as a center for cinematic and artistic influence.
Preparations are also underway for major events commemorating the centenary of the renowned writer Malek Haddad. As part of this celebration, an international literary prize bearing his name will be established, coordinated with the acclaimed Algerian writer Ahlam Mosteghanemi. This prize will serve as a tribute to Haddad’s literary legacy and promote Algerian cultural influence.
Significant investment will be directed towards upgrading cultural spaces. This includes initiatives to improve museums, art exhibition halls, and other cultural venues to ensure their optimal utilization. The premiere of the highly anticipated film ‘Ahmed Bey’ will be held in the grand hall named after him.
To preserve the city’s architectural and historical memory, new investment operations have been launched to study and restore the old city. These efforts are part of a broader initiative to conserve and enhance Constantine’s urban heritage. The Ministry emphasizes the importance of these projects in showcasing Constantine’s rich cultural identity.
These comprehensive measures underscore the government’s commitment to supporting and promoting the arts and culture sector in Constantine, solidifying its position as a vibrant center of creativity and heritage.
