Algeria’s Commercial Registry Exceeds 2.4 Million Businesses

Algiers – The number of registered economic operators in Algeria’s commercial registry has surpassed 2.4 million as of December, according to the Minister of Internal Trade and Regulation of the National Market, Amel Abdelatif. The announcement was made earlier today in the capital city.

This figure represents a significant milestone for the Algerian economy, reflecting a growing and increasingly formalized business sector. The increase in registered businesses points to a positive trend in entrepreneurship and investment within the country.

Speaking at a press conference, Minister Abdelatif emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting and facilitating the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which constitute a large portion of the registered businesses. She highlighted ongoing efforts to streamline administrative procedures and reduce bureaucratic hurdles for entrepreneurs seeking to establish and operate businesses in Algeria.

“Our aim is to create a business-friendly environment that encourages innovation, investment, and job creation,” Minister Abdelatif stated. She added that the Ministry is actively working on initiatives to improve access to finance, provide training and support services, and promote the adoption of new technologies among Algerian businesses.

The growth in the number of registered economic operators is expected to contribute to increased economic activity, higher tax revenues, and greater employment opportunities across various sectors. The government views this development as a key indicator of the success of its economic diversification and reform agenda.

Further details on specific sectorial growth within the commercial registry are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
