Algiers, Algeria – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has issued a stern warning to those speculating on milk prices and availability, emphasizing that the era of illicitly selling subsidized goods is over.
The President’s remarks came during a visit to the public dairy group ‘GIPLI’ pavilion at the 33rd Algerian Production Fair. President Tebboune expressed his dissatisfaction with the persistent scarcity of milk, despite the establishment of new production facilities intended to resolve the issue.
“The illicit sale of subsidized materials under the table is over for good,” stated President Tebboune, addressing the ongoing shortages. He specifically targeted traders allegedly exacerbating the milk scarcity through speculative practices.
The President affirmed that the judiciary would not hesitate to hold those responsible accountable, ensuring that subsidized goods reach their intended beneficiaries. The government is committed to ensuring the availability of essential commodities at affordable prices for all citizens.
The President’s strong stance reflects growing public concern over the availability and affordability of essential food items. The government has repeatedly stated its commitment to combatting corruption and ensuring fair market practices.
This announcement follows previous government efforts to stabilize the market and increase domestic milk production. The President’s direct warning underscores the seriousness with which the government views the issue of speculation and its impact on the Algerian population.
