Vocational Training: Key Updates for the February 2026 Session

Algiers – Significant changes are on the horizon for vocational training in Algeria, with the February 2026 session set to incorporate strategic reforms aimed at enhancing employability and fostering entrepreneurship. These updates align with the nation’s broader economic development goals.

According to Minister of Vocational Training and Education, Nesima Arhab, the upcoming session will prioritize training in sectors crucial to Algeria’s economic future. These include agriculture, industry, renewable energy, digitalization, and public works. A key focus will be integrating entrepreneurial skills into training programs, empowering graduates to create their own businesses.

A core objective is to better align training programs with the actual needs of the job market and current investment projects. This includes promoting self-employment and supporting the creation of micro-enterprises. Efforts will be made to streamline saturated specializations, guiding trainees towards more productive pathways and professions with the potential to evolve into entrepreneurial ventures.

Emphasis will be placed on practical training and apprenticeship programs, providing trainees with invaluable hands-on experience and fostering innovative ideas. The integration of complete digitalization through the ‘Takwine’ and ‘Tamhine’ platforms will also be a priority.

The competency-based approach will be expanded to bolster both technical and entrepreneurial skills. Furthermore, technical English language training will be introduced to facilitate access to international markets and cutting-edge technologies. Improved social support for trainees and enhanced professional and economic integration for all groups, including young project holders, are also planned.

This training session underscores the commitment of the vocational training and education sector to developing a national workforce with an entrepreneurial spirit. The ultimate goal is to equip individuals with the skills to generate wealth, successfully enter the job market, and actively contribute to building a strong and sustainable national economy.
