Algeria Climbs FIFA Rankings, Surpasses Egypt

Algiers – The Algerian national football team has ascended in the latest FIFA world rankings, released today. The Desert Foxes now stand at 34th globally, a one-position improvement from the previous ranking.

This rise places Algeria ahead of Egypt, who slipped down one spot in the global standings. According to FIFA’s official website, Algeria gained 1.31 points, bringing their total to 1517.68 points, up from 1516.37.

This progress is attributed to the positive results achieved during the month of November. Les Verts secured friendly victories against Zimbabwe (3-1) and Saudi Arabia (2-0). Furthermore, the performance of the national team in the Arab Cup, where they reached the quarter-finals before being eliminated by the United Arab Emirates on penalties, contributed to the improved ranking.

On the Arab stage, Algeria now occupies the third position, trailing behind Morocco, who gained 3.22 points, and Senegal, who maintained their second-place ranking with the same number of points.

This ranking boost comes ahead of Algeria’s opening match in the Africa Cup of Nations this Wednesday against Sudan. Fans are hopeful that this momentum will translate into success on the continental stage.
