Syria: Missiles Strike Damascus, Alert Raised in Aleppo

Damascus Under Attack: Three missiles struck the Mazzeh 86 district and the vicinity of Mazzeh military airport in Damascus this evening. One of the projectiles, of unidentified origin, caused damage to the Al-Muhammadi Mosque in the Mazzeh 86 area, according to reports.

The incident comes as the new Syrian government is actively working to establish security and assert control across the country. Recent reports have highlighted alleged efforts by remnants of the ousted Bashar al-Assad regime to destabilize Syria. Leaked recordings and documents purportedly reveal plans by former officials to regroup, raise funds, and acquire weapons to undermine the current government.

Heightened Alert in Aleppo: Separately, the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced it has raised the level of field readiness in Aleppo province. This includes reinforcing its units with a fleet of modern vehicles and advanced technology. A ceremony showcasing the new equipment was held, attended by Interior Minister Anas al-Khattab and other officials.

The increased security measures follow a recent suicide bombing that targeted a police patrol in Aleppo, resulting in casualties. The attack, which occurred last Wednesday, follows earlier reports of civilian casualties in Aleppo, with several killed and injured, including women and children, due to indiscriminate shelling and sniper operations allegedly carried out by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
