Algiers, January 5, 2026 – The Minister of National Education, Mohamed Saghir Saadaoui, has announced a key clarification regarding the upcoming teacher recruitment competition. According to the Minister, professional experience lasting less than one month will not be considered when evaluating candidates.
Speaking at a radio forum earlier today, Minister Saadaoui explained that only professional experience exceeding one month will be taken into account, provided that relevant certifications are presented as proof. This measure aims to ensure a fair and consistent evaluation process for all applicants.
The Minister emphasized that the assessment of professional experience will be conducted alongside oral interviews and the relevance of the candidate’s qualifications to the specific teaching specialization. This multi-faceted approach is designed to identify highly skilled and competent educators who can effectively meet the needs of the education sector.
“The stability and professional development of our teachers are among our top priorities,” stated Minister Saadaoui. “The current procedures reflect a balance between exceptional integration measures and the legal framework of the competition, ensuring the quality and continuity of education under all circumstances.”
Regarding the integration of contract teachers, the Minister clarified that this process was based on the practical experience gained by these individuals during their previous employment, which qualified them to effectively perform their duties. This decision led to the integration of over 82,000 teachers, following a previous integration of 62,000 teachers in 2022.
Minister Saadaoui also expressed satisfaction with the results achieved during the first academic term. He noted a significant improvement in the consistency of class schedules and a high level of discipline among teachers, contributing to a more effective learning environment and positive outcomes for students at all levels.
