Regional Organization Law: A Step Towards Institutional Reform

Algiers – The Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, Mr. Said Saayoud, highlighted today the significance of the new law on regional organization as a crucial step in the state’s institutional reform process and in bringing public administration closer to the citizens.

Speaking in Algiers, Minister Saayoud emphasized that the law represents a key building block in the ongoing efforts to modernize and streamline the governance structure of the country. He stated that this initiative is aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and accountability across all levels of government.

The new legislation is expected to facilitate better coordination between different administrative regions, ensuring a more integrated and cohesive approach to addressing local needs and challenges. It also aims to empower local authorities to play a more active role in the development and implementation of policies that directly affect their communities.

“This law is not just about redrawing administrative boundaries; it is about fundamentally rethinking how we govern and serve our citizens,” Minister Saayoud stated. “By decentralizing power and resources, we can create a more responsive and effective government that is better equipped to meet the diverse needs of our population.”

The Minister also noted that the law was the result of extensive consultations with various stakeholders, including local officials, civil society organizations, and experts in public administration. This collaborative approach, he said, ensured that the law reflects the realities and aspirations of the Algerian people.

The National People’s Assembly is expected to debate and approve the proposed law in the coming weeks. Once enacted, the law will pave the way for a series of measures aimed at strengthening local governance, promoting economic development, and improving the quality of public services across the country.
