The event, scheduled to take place from January 21st to 24th, 2026, marks a significant step in Algeria’s commitment to fostering constitutional justice on the African continent.

The Constitutional Court announced that the continental gathering will be held under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune. It will bring together representatives from various African constitutional courts and councils to discuss crucial issues related to strengthening constitutional justice and facilitating the exchange of experiences among member states.

This session is expected to focus on key challenges and opportunities facing constitutional courts in Africa, including the protection of fundamental rights, the promotion of the rule of law, and the adaptation of constitutional jurisprudence to evolving societal needs. Participants will share best practices, discuss innovative approaches to constitutional interpretation, and explore avenues for enhancing judicial cooperation across borders.

The hosting of this prestigious event underscores Algeria’s growing role as a key player in promoting judicial cooperation and constitutionalism within the African Union. It further reflects the country’s dedication to upholding the principles of democracy, human rights, and the rule of law, both domestically and across the continent. The summit is anticipated to yield concrete recommendations and strategies for strengthening the independence, effectiveness, and legitimacy of constitutional courts throughout Africa.

The Algerian government views the hosting of the CACCC Executive Bureau session as an opportunity to showcase its own advancements in the field of constitutional justice and to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on the future of constitutionalism in Africa. The event is expected to foster stronger relationships between African judicial bodies and to promote a more unified approach to addressing common challenges.
