Algiers, Algeria – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune presided over a Council of Ministers meeting today, addressing key economic and infrastructure projects alongside measures to support Algerian pilgrims undertaking the Hajj this year.
The meeting included presentations on the launch of the zinc and lead mine in Oued Amizour, as well as updates on the progress of the mining railway project connecting Bled El Hadba, Oued El Keberit, and the port of Annaba. This railway is crucial for transporting extracted and produced phosphate and fertilizers.
Following a review of the agenda and a report on the government’s activities over the past two weeks by the Prime Minister, President Tebboune approved a significant reduction in Hajj costs for Algerian citizens.
Specifically, the President authorized a subsidy of ten million centimes (DA 100,000) per pilgrim, effectively lowering the total cost from 92 million centimes (DA 920,000) to 82 million centimes (DA 820,000). This measure aims to ease the financial burden on Algerians intending to perform the Hajj pilgrimage.
