Prime Minister Saifi Gharib delivered a speech on Sunday while co-presiding with the Head of Government of the Tunisian Republic, Sara Zafarani Zanzri, over the commemoration of the 68th anniversary of the Sakiet Sidi Youssef events.
In his speech, the Prime Minister highlighted the depth of the historical ties between Algeria and Tunisia, emphasizing that the shared blood shed on the land of Sakiet Sidi Youssef “formed an eternal symbol of sincere brotherhood and unity in the struggle against colonialism.”
Saifi Gharib stressed that “today’s joint efforts follow in the footsteps of those who came before to consolidate relations characterized by excellence and exceptionalism, based on solidarity and joint action for just causes, freedom, and dignity.”
He also affirmed that this shared memory remains a fundamental pillar for strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries in light of current challenges. He noted that the outcomes of the 23rd session of the Algerian-Tunisian Joint Grand Commission for Cooperation, held on December 12, which included legal texts covering various fields of cooperation, along with the signing of several economic partnership agreements between Algerian and Tunisian companies during the economic forum held on its sidelines, serve as clear evidence of the distinguished level reached by bilateral relations and the promising opportunities that must be exploited to consolidate and expand this partnership.
For her part, the Head of Government of the Tunisian Republic delivered a speech in which she emphasized the strength of the deep-rooted relations between the two brotherly countries, based on mutual respect and permanent solidarity. Zanzri stressed the commitment of both countries’ leaderships to elevating bilateral cooperation to higher levels to serve the interests of the Algerian and Tunisian peoples.
