The Minister of National Education, Mohamed Seghir Saadaoui, met with unions on Monday in a participatory session to examine the most prominent files concerning the sector.
During his speech, Saadaoui stated that following the issuance of the basic statute for sector employees, several observations and shortcomings were noted by trade unions, leading to the formation of a national committee to listen to and record these remarks.
The Minister emphasized that a general session was necessary to conclude discussions regarding the basic statute, noting that the objective remains the public interest of the sector through participatory dialogue.
He reassured social partners, saying, “If we reach a degree of consensus, we will adopt the amended draft of the basic statute and submit it as soon as possible.”
He added, “We are committed to achieving stability and comfort for the sector and its employees by improving working conditions.”
He also revealed that the concerns of trade unions have been raised to the Ministry of Labor regarding procedural aspects to align with new texts in the labor law.
Saadaoui stressed that despite the recorded observations, which will be addressed, the basic statute represents the government’s implementation of the President’s decision to improve the social and professional conditions of sector employees.
He further emphasized that his department is working to ensure the basic statute includes provisions that achieve the maximum possible standards, reflecting the interest the President of the Republic grants to teachers.
