Training meeting for youth on enhancing the culture of reporting corruption

The Minister of Youth, in charge of the High Council for Youth, Mustapha Hidaoui, along with the President of the High Authority for Transparency, Prevention, and Combating Corruption, Salima Mesrati, oversaw a training meeting on Thursday in Algiers regarding “Consolidating Transparency and Integrity and Enhancing the Culture of Reporting Corruption.”

During the meeting, which saw wide participation from various youth actors via video conferencing, Hidaoui explained that this interactive session follows the implementation of the agreement signed between the High Council for Youth and the High Authority for Transparency, Prevention, and Combating Corruption, aimed at enabling youth to contribute effectively to public life and decision-making.

As highlighted by the Minister of Youth, the meeting aims to “establish a culture of integrity and anti-corruption among youth and enhance their presence in various national initiatives through innovative activities, involving student and community networks and content creators as key partners in spreading awareness.”

For her part, Mesrati called for efforts to promote a culture of rejecting corruption, emphasizing that combating it “is not the responsibility of institutions alone, but is a societal and ethical project based on the citizen’s awareness and conscience, with youth as its primary focus.”

She also called on youth to “actively engage in spreading the values of integrity within their universities, neighborhoods, institutions, and digital platforms, and to contribute to awareness campaigns and join associations and clubs active in the field of awareness.”

Mesrati urged youth to propose initiatives that “enhance good governance, while committing to reporting all forms of corruption through available legal channels,” considering them “the first line of defense for building a just and honest society and the makers of the real change that Algeria seeks.”
