The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries, Yacine El-Mahdi Oualid, confirmed that his ministry is ready to support farmers in modernizing agricultural equipment. During his supervision of the first meeting of the National Scientific Council for Food Security today, Tuesday, at the National Chamber of Agriculture in Mohammedia, he revealed significant losses in some crops related to mechanization.
In this context, the minister stated: “Significant losses in agricultural production are linked to mechanization, or what are known as post-harvest losses.” He added: “Various products are experiencing very significant losses, ranging between 20% and 30% in some sectors.”
The Minister of Agriculture recalled that President Abdelmadjid Tebboune emphasized the importance of modernizing mechanization, stressing that his sector is ready to accompany and support farmers in this field. He continued: “As a ministry, we are ready to accompany and support all farmers to modernize mechanization, taking into account the opinions of experts in this field.”
Furthermore, Yacine Oualid emphasized that the sector’s new strategy is based on an approach where “every dinar spent must have a real impact on production.” He explained: “Among the set goals is the formulation of effective government policies, meaning that every dinar spent must return a real impact on production.”
It is worth noting that President Abdelmadjid Tebboune chaired a working meeting on Monday, January 19, 2026, dedicated to agricultural mechanization. In this regard, the President decided to establish cooperatives specialized in renting all types of agricultural equipment for the benefit of farmers, with the aim of expanding cultivated land areas and increasing national agricultural production yields.
During the same meeting, President Tebboune also decided to create a National Council for Agricultural Mechanization.
