The National Gendarmerie Command has called on all drivers and road users to exercise the utmost caution and vigilance to ensure their safety and the safety of others.
This warning follows a special weather bulletin regarding strong winds that may reach speeds of 120 km/h, affecting several provinces across the country.
In a statement, the National Gendarmerie Command explained that these exceptional weather conditions could lead to a loss of vehicle control while driving, particularly on highways and open roads, necessitating strict adherence to traffic safety rules.
In this context, the National Gendarmerie Command reminded citizens of several important preventive tips to avoid traffic accidents, primarily reducing speed, especially on highways and exposed roads.
The authorities also urged drivers to maintain a firm grip on the steering wheel to avoid the impact of sudden side winds, avoid dangerous overtaking and maneuvers, maintain a sufficient safety distance between vehicles, focus while driving, and be wary of falling trees, signs, or flying objects. Additionally, they advised regularly following weather reports, checking road conditions before traveling, ensuring vehicle windows are tightly closed, and avoiding parking vehicles under trees or near utility poles.
The National Gendarmerie Command called on all citizens to comply with these safety instructions and to report any dangerous situations that may threaten road users.
