The Appeals Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) officially announced on Tuesday that Senegal has lost the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final by an administrative score of 3-0, crowning Morocco as the tournament champion. This decision followed the withdrawal of Senegalese players in protest against refereeing decisions, which was deemed a violation of regulations (Articles 82 and 84), leading the committee to uphold Morocco’s protest.
As a result, Senegal has been stripped of the title, and the match result has been amended to 3-0 in favor of Morocco. Additionally, the Senegalese head coach has been suspended for five matches, and the Senegalese Football Federation has been fined $300,000. Two players from the Senegalese national team, Ndiaye and Sarr, have also been suspended.
Furthermore, Moroccan players Hakimi and Saibari received suspensions, and fines were imposed on the Moroccan Football Federation for poor organization and conduct. This ruling nullifies the initial field result, which had ended in a 1-0 victory for Senegal.
