Algeria Moves to Strengthen Social Protection for Farmers with Permanent Support System

Algeria’s Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Security, Abdelhaq Sayhi, has ordered the establishment of a permanent social and professional support system for farmers, as part of a flexible and effective social protection framework tailored to the specificities of agricultural activity.

Sayhi chaired a dedicated meeting at the ministry’s headquarters yesterday to assess measures taken in favor of farmers and reinforce mechanisms to expand their enrollment in the national social security system.

The minister told dzwatch that this initiative falls at the heart of the President’s ambitious directives aimed at consolidating a strong social state built on social justice and equal opportunity, through effective support for the farming community as a strategic pillar in achieving food security and strengthening national sovereignty.

The meeting also reviewed a comprehensive report presented by the Fund’s Director General, covering achievements in expanding farmer enrollment and facilitating their access to digital services, as Algeria pushes forward its agricultural social protection agenda.
