Norway Receives Over 25,000 Tons of Algerian Ammonia in July

Algeria emerged as Norway's leading supplier of anhydrous ammonia in July 2026, exporting 25,463 tons. This significant volume, valued at 176.3 million Norwegian Krone, positioned Algeria ahead of the United States in monthly anhydrous ammonia deliveries to Norway. The data, based on customs declarations, was published by the Norwegian Statistics Agency and updated on August 17.

The Algerian shipment constituted approximately 43.4 percent of Norway's total anhydrous ammonia imports for July, which amounted to 58,627 tons. When combined with the United States' contributions, the two nations collectively accounted for about 83.1 percent of Norway's anhydrous ammonia demand that month, indicating a concentration among key suppliers. Algeria alone secured roughly 43.4 percent of the volume and around 42.9 percent of the total customs value.

Specifically, Algeria's exports surpassed those from the United States by 2,203 tons, with the U.S. supplying 23,260 tons at a customs value of 166.4 million Krone. This performance underscores Algeria's growing capability in the chemical export sector and its expanding presence in European markets. The average customs value for Algerian ammonia stood at approximately 6,925 Krone per ton, while the U.S. averaged around 7,156 Krone per ton, though these figures are derived from customs declarations and may not directly reflect final sale prices.
