Air Algérie Expands Modern Fleet with New 737 MAX 8

A new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, part of the national carrier Air Algérie's fleet, was recently observed operating from Béjaia's Abane Ramdane Airport on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Flight tracking data from FlightRadar24 indicates the aircraft performed a rotation from Béjaia to Paris-CDG, returning to Béjaia, before continuing its journey to Algiers. The aircraft's presence on the tarmac was captured and shared by an aviation enthusiast, highlighting its deployment on a key international route connecting France to Algeria, followed by service on the domestic network.

This particular aircraft, registered 7T-VLQ and named “El Houria” (meaning “Liberty”), was officially received by Air Algérie on July 11, 2026. Its delivery marked the beginning of an order for ten Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft intended to bolster the airline's capabilities. Building on this expansion, Air Algérie subsequently welcomed two additional aircraft of the same model on July 29, christened “Peace” and “Africa,” further reinforcing its operational capacity across its network.

The integration of these new Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets is a core component of Air Algérie's comprehensive fleet modernization program. This initiative aims to renew and strengthen the airline's operational capacities, ensuring a more modern fleet that is well-adapted to the evolving requirements of both its international and domestic flight schedules. The ongoing reception of these advanced aircraft underscores Air Algérie’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and service for its passengers.
