Belarusian Delegation Discusses MAZ Assembly, $500 Million Trade with Algeria

A Belarusian delegation, led by Natalia Kochanova, Chairman of the Council of the Republic, arrived in Algeria for an official visit. The delegation engaged in discussions aimed at enhancing economic cooperation and partnership between the two nations, setting a target to increase bilateral trade to $500 million. Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich was also part of the Belarusian group.

During the visit, Valery Ivankovich, General Director of MAZ, held talks with Algerian company representatives, Minister of External Trade and Export Promotion Kamel Rezig, and Minister of Industry Farid Courtel. Discussions focused on the supply of MAZ trucks and passenger equipment, alongside exploring the feasibility of organizing MAZ vehicle assembly in Algeria. The Algerian side indicated its intention to thoroughly review the product range to identify the most promising segments for cooperation.

Both sides confirmed mutual interest in establishing an Algero-Belarusian business council. Further agreements included plans for updating Algeria's passenger transport fleet and securing preliminary approval for the organization of assembly production within Algeria. These initiatives underscore a concerted effort to deepen industrial ties and foster joint production in sectors such as machinery and agricultural technologies.
