Oran to Host 13th African University Games in 2028

Algeria has secured the hosting rights for the 13th African University Games, with the event scheduled to take place in Oran during the summer of 2028. This decision was conveyed by the African University Sports Federation (FASU), marking a significant upcoming occasion for university sports on the continent.

The official announcement and handover ceremony occurred in Cairo, Egypt, during the conclusion of the 12th African University Games. The flag for the next edition was formally transferred on Wednesday evening, with the President of the Algerian University Sports Federation, accompanied by his deputy and the head of Algeria's bid committee, receiving it to symbolize the official transition of hosting duties to Algeria.

Oran is poised to host university students and athletes from various African nations, who will participate in sports competitions alongside opportunities for cultural and academic exchange.
