Renewable Sector in Algeria to See 51.42% Annual Growth

Algeria is projected to achieve the fastest growth in the renewable energy sector from 2026 to 2031, targeting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 51.42% for its renewable energy market over the next five years. This projection comes from a report by Mordor Intelligence, an international research and consulting firm.
This rapid expansion is primarily propelled by public initiatives aimed at accelerating the deployment of solar electricity production capabilities, alongside the nation's increasing focus on investments in green hydrogen. Key among these initiatives is a tender launched by Algeria for photovoltaic solar projects with a total capacity of one gigawatt (GW). This endeavor aligns with the national strategy to diversify the energy mix and develop clean energy sources.
Concurrently, Algeria intends to leverage its significant solar potential and energy resources to establish itself in the emerging green hydrogen market, a sector expected to play a crucial role in the global energy transition. Through these comprehensive projects, Algeria aims to solidify its position among African players in renewable energy, enhancing its clean electricity production capacities and fostering new opportunities for cooperation and investment in green hydrogen.
