Bank of Algeria Reports Dinar Appreciation Versus Euro

The Algerian dinar (DZD) has maintained its upward trajectory against the Euro on the official interbank market, according to the latest official quotations released by the Bank of Algeria on Friday, September 18, 2026. This trend confirms a positive momentum initiated earlier in the week. The Euro was quoted at 153.52 DZD on Friday, marking a notable decrease from 154.17 DZD on Thursday and 154.36 DZD on Wednesday, September 16. In contrast, the dinar's parity with the United States dollar (USD) remained stable, with the dollar valued at 133.64 DZD, consistent with levels recorded on Thursday and Wednesday.
The strengthening of the national currency was also observed against other major European currencies. The British Pound settled at 178.70 DZD on Friday, down from 179.84 DZD the previous day. Similarly, the Swiss Franc saw a retreat to 162.04 DZD, compared to 163.25 DZD reported on Thursday. These movements collectively indicate a broader appreciation of the Algerian dinar across significant international exchange rates.
This appreciation of the Algerian dinar against the Euro comes amidst a challenging international economic environment, characterized by ongoing price increases and resurgent inflation across Europe, significantly influenced by surging global crude oil prices. In this context of escalating prices on the European continent, the consolidation of the national currency against the Euro serves as a valuable advantage for the Algerian economy. A stronger dinar directly reduces the cost of imports from Eurozone countries, thereby mitigating the financial burden on the national market. This rebalancing enhances the purchasing power of the local currency in external markets, helping to cushion Algerian consumers from the impact of rising prices for imported goods.
