ENCC, FERROVIAL Sign Pact for Mining Rail Production

The National Company for Metal Structures and Boilermaking (ENCC Spa), a subsidiary of the National Steel Company (SNS), and the FERROVIAL group have entered into an industrial cooperation framework agreement. Signed on September 16, the agreement aims to foster the development and manufacturing of specialized freight wagons, particularly those designated for transporting mining products. The signing took place with ENCC CEO Abdelhalim Arouche and FERROVIAL General Manager Mounir Abbassi present, alongside Saïd Arabat, Chairman of FERROVIAL's Board of Directors.
This partnership is designed to implement a national program for producing wagons specifically for mineral transport. A key objective of this initiative is to elevate the national integration rate in the manufacturing of this equipment to over 70%, thereby significantly reducing the country's reliance on imported specialized railway materials. The new wagons are slated to support the transport chain for strategic mining resources, including phosphate.
The collaboration underscores a commitment to advancing Algeria's national railway industry and enhancing the value of its strategic mining resources. Beyond production goals, the agreement facilitates the pooling of industrial capacities, expertise, and competencies between the two companies. This cooperative effort is also set to contribute to the development of national technical skills, technology transfer, and the creation of both added value and skilled employment opportunities within Algeria.
