Consular Missions Offer Biometric Passport Services in Three US States
The Algerian Consulate General in New York has scheduled several consular missions dedicated to biometric passport processing for its nationals in the United States. This initiative involves deploying mobile biometric stations across three states within its consular jurisdiction: Illinois, Massachusetts, and Florida. The missions are planned to take place during October and November 2026, aiming to enhance accessibility for Algerian citizens requiring passport services.
These specialized mobile stations will exclusively facilitate the taking of photographs and collection of fingerprints, which are the only steps in the biometric passport issuance process that necessitate the physical presence of applicants aged 12 years and older. Algerian nationals who are registered with the consulate and whose passports have expired or are due to expire within six months of the mission's date are encouraged to utilize these services. This targeted approach ensures that essential requirements for biometric passports can be fulfilled closer to where citizens reside.
To participate in these mobile biometric sessions, eligible Algerian nationals must submit their application files as soon as possible, with a deadline set for October 15, 2026. The consulate specifies that requests for new passports, renewal of registration, and initial registration can be submitted concurrently. It is crucial to note that the fingerprinting procedure cannot be performed unless the application has been previously sent to the Consulate General's services in New York. Furthermore, Algerian nationals residing in states neighboring Illinois, Massachusetts, and Florida are also welcome to submit their applications and attend these sessions to complete the necessary photo and fingerprint collection.
