International reports revealed on Tuesday that Morocco’s intelligence services have been implicated in a new espionage scandal, involving the surveillance and blackmail of prominent political, sports, and entertainment figures, as well as foreign influencers and tourists.
According to these sources, the espionage operations are conducted by installing hidden cameras in the rooms of five-star hotels and private residences to secretly record individuals staying there.
The reports have issued warnings against traveling to Morocco, labeling the country as an unsafe destination for those concerned about privacy.
This scandal comes amid Morocco’s mounting internal issues, largely due to the “Makhzen” regime’s failed governance. The country is grappling with a poverty rate that has surged to 82.5%, an unemployment rate reaching 48%, and the bankruptcy of several institutions due to rising debts.
