Algiers – The newly appointed Slovenian ambassador to Algeria, Mrs. Urška Kramberger Mandak, emphasized the “excellent” bilateral relations between Slovenia and Algeria. Speaking on Monday after presenting her credentials to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, she expressed confidence that the mutual opening of embassies in both countries would elevate their partnership to new heights.
As Slovenia’s first ambassador to Algeria, Mrs. Kramberger Mandak said she is honored to undertake this mission “with pride and dedication.” She also took the opportunity to congratulate President Tebboune on his re-election for a second term.
Strengthening Diplomatic and Economic Cooperation
The ambassador underlined the excellent state of bilateral relations and noted that trade exchanges and cooperation between the two countries have expanded. Both nations, she said, have been successfully working together in the UN Security Council as non-permanent members.
“Algeria is an important partner for Slovenia,” she added, emphasizing that the mutual establishment of embassies has brought bilateral relations to a new level.
Mrs. Kramberger Mandak also highlighted the potential for enhanced cooperation in the energy sector, describing it as a key step toward building a strong economic partnership. In addition, she expressed Slovenia’s desire to deepen collaboration with Algeria in the fields of culture, academia, and sports.
Slovenia’s Invitation to President Tebboune
During the meeting, the Slovenian ambassador extended an invitation from Slovenia’s president, inviting President Tebboune to make an official visit to Slovenia, signaling a commitment to further deepening ties between the two nations.
The ambassador also noted the alignment of both countries’ positions on several international issues, particularly regarding the Middle East. She emphasized the need to address the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza and called for the protection of civilians in the conflict.
