Aïn Defla – To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Algerian Revolution, Minister of Housing, Mohamed Tarek Belaribi, announced on Sunday the launch of a nationwide housing distribution initiative, aiming to allocate 102,136 housing units across Algeria in various formats.

This announcement was made during Belaribi’s working visit to Aïn Defla, where he outlined the breakdown of housing allocations: 25,338 public rental units, 4,233 assisted social housing units, 20,319 units under the AADL (Sale-to-Rent) scheme, 42,797 rural housing units, 6,434 social plot subsidies, and 2,745 free-market housing units.

Looking forward, Belaribi highlighted the ambitious goals under the 2024-2029 presidential plan, which targets the construction of two million housing units nationwide across different categories. He emphasized that this massive project, set to begin in early 2025, will be managed through a strategic, scientifically grounded approach.

To support this initiative, Algeria’s 2025 financial budget allocates 261.1 billion DZD in commitment authorizations and 349.3 billion DZD in payment credits. The 2025 budget includes the construction of 235,000 new units, comprising 10,000 public rental units, 4,000 rural housing subsidies, and 185,000 units under the AADL program.

Aïn Defla itself will receive 1,587 housing units, distributed as follows: 712 rural construction subsidies, 620 AADL units, 215 public rental units, and 40 subsidized housing units. Since 2020, more than 1.7 million housing units have been distributed across Algeria—a record in the nation’s history, Belaribi noted.
