The High Council of the Arabic Language Showcases New Publications for the 70th Anniversary of the November Revolution

Algiers – On Monday, the High Council of the Arabic Language held a press conference in Algiers to present its latest contributions in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the November 1954 Revolution. This landmark event highlighted a series of publications that pay homage to Algeria’s pivotal historical chapter.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Saleh Belaid, President of the High Council, at its headquarters. Attendees included Mr. Mabrouk Zid El Kheir, President of the Higher Islamic Council; Mr. Cherif Meribai, President of the Algerian Language Academy; Mr. Hamza Al-Aoufi, Secretary-General of the National Organization of Mujahideen; Mr. Abdel Salam Meifai, Director of 1 November magazine; as well as various freedom fighters and civil society representatives.

In his speech, Mr. Belaid emphasized the importance of the 70th anniversary as a moment to “reclaim collective memory.” He described the November Revolution as a globally recognized movement and highlighted key revolutionary figures such as Larbi Ben M’hidi, Didouche Mourad, Rabah Bitat, Krim Belkacem, Mohamed Boudiaf, and Mostefa Ben Boulaïd. He reiterated that “Algeria today celebrates the 70th anniversary of November 1, 1954, under the banner of the new Algeria, reflecting the legacy of our ancestors in construction, development, and prosperity.” He vowed that the council would continue to uphold the nation’s achievements with dedication.

The event featured the presentation of two new publications: The November Declaration: Triumph and Revolution and Index of the 1 November Magazine (1972-2023). Additionally, the council launched a digital platform dedicated to the publication’s index.

Mr. Belaid explained that The November Declaration: Triumph and Revolution comprises 54 high-level articles that collectively encapsulate the spirit of 1954 from scholarly perspectives, offering an in-depth, objective analysis of the historical document. Regarding the Index of the 1 November Magazine (1972-2023), he noted that it serves as a comprehensive guide for researchers delving into this publication, which has chronicled Algeria’s history since its inaugural issue in 1972 through its 195th issue in 2023. This index meets the needs of historians and academics seeking a repository of detailed information on Algeria’s liberation journey.

An exhibition showcasing various council publications was also held. These included dictionaries, lexicons, and journals such as The Analytical Index of the Arabic Language Journal, The Dictionary of Everyday Terms, A Functional Guide in Human Resources Management, and proceedings from the international conference on “Employing Artificial Intelligence in Educational Curriculum Development,” among other council contributions.
