Algiers – National team coach Vladimir Petkovic’s decision to call up Algerian international defender Huan Hajem of Young Boys Switzerland has proven wise, as Hajem joins the Algerian squad’s training camp beginning Monday at the National Teams Preparation Center in Sidi Moussa. The camp prepares the team for two crucial matches in the African Cup of Nations 2025 qualifiers against Equatorial Guinea and Liberia, scheduled for November 14 and 17.
Despite concerns following an early November calf injury that caused a muscle tear and was expected to sideline him for 21 days, Hajem recovered in time to make the starting lineup for his club’s Swiss League match against Lugano on Sunday, in the 14th round of competition. His readiness comes as a relief to Coach Petkovic, who counted on the left-back’s return to bolster the Algerian squad.
