Ministry of Mujahideen Honors Winners of the 29th Edition of the November 1, 1954 Award

Algeria – The Ministry of Mujahideen and Rights Holders organized an honorary ceremony on Thursday evening at the Army Club in Algiers to celebrate the winners of the 29th edition of the November 1, 1954 Award. This event took place as part of the 70th anniversary celebrations of the outbreak of the Algerian Revolution.

The ceremony was attended by several government officials, representatives of security institutions, civil society organizations, and the revolutionary family, in addition to national figures and veteran Mujahideen.

Commitment to Preserving National Memory

In his speech, Minister of Mujahideen, Laïd Rebiga, highlighted President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding Algeria’s historical heritage and national memory. The minister emphasized that the president considers historical awareness a crucial pillar in strengthening national identity and protecting future generations.

He urged students, researchers, creators, and media professionals to actively participate in the upcoming edition of the competition, which will mark its 30th anniversary. The next edition will focus on exposing the colonial crimes endured by the Algerian people over 132 years of occupation.

Award Categories and Honorees

During the ceremony, prizes were awarded to winners in various categories, including:

  • Historical Novels
  • Revolutionary Poetry
  • Historical Research
  • Audiovisual Historical Productions (Animated Films, Documentaries)

Additionally, the ministry symbolically honored prominent figures, including:

  • Mujahid Ammar Abdelhamid Mahy Bahi
  • Friend of the Algerian Revolution, Arlette Rougi de Gonan
  • Daughter of the martyr Ben Brahem Mohamed, lawyer Fatima Ben Brahem
  • Son of Colonel Slimane Ben Tobal (Si Lakhdar), Ben Tobal Tarek

Encouraging Historical Research and Creativity

The ceremony also featured the screening of a short documentary showcasing the ministry’s efforts in preserving national memory, along with artistic performances and poetry recitals.

The November 1, 1954 Award aims to encourage young writers, researchers, and historians to engage in historical research and creative works. This aligns with President Tebboune’s vision to preserve Algeria’s historical identity, promote cultural heritage, and support initiatives that reinforce national consciousness.
