Rabat – Thousands of Moroccans flooded the streets across major cities on Friday, voicing their anger over the ongoing genocide in Gaza and denouncing the Moroccan regime’s persistence in normalizing relations with Israel. Protesters condemned what they described as a blatant betrayal of the Palestinian cause and a disregard for the collective will of the Moroccan people. Demonstrations were marked by chants against the Israeli occupation and demands to shut down the liaison office in Rabat. Civil society organizations such as the Moroccan Commission for the Support of the Nation’s Causes, the National Action Group for Palestine, and the Moroccan Initiative for Support and Solidarity organized nationwide protests, sit-ins, and symbolic hunger strikes. These actions aimed to echo the suffering of Gaza’s besieged population and reject any justification for ties with what they call a criminal regime. Human rights groups have also condemned the use of starvation as a weapon by the Israeli military and held the Moroccan state accountable for its political silence. As public outrage intensifies, a stark contrast grows between the unwavering solidarity of the Moroccan people and the state’s controversial foreign policy stance.
