Blida, Algeria – The Blida Police Department has dismantled a major criminal network involved in the trafficking of psychotropic drugs. A coordinated operation led by the Wilaya Judicial Police resulted in the seizure of over 243,000 psychotropic pills of various types and the arrest of eleven individuals.
The operation, executed by the BRI (Research and Intervention Brigade), followed extensive field investigations that uncovered the suspicious activities of a pharmacist. The network reportedly utilized fraudulent medical prescriptions to obtain the drugs.
Following the investigation, authorities identified and apprehended eleven (11) members of the criminal group, including the pharmacist at the center of the operation. The raid, conducted under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecutor’s Office, led to the confiscation of a significant quantity of psychotropic drugs, 145 doses of injectable narcotics, and 16 bottles of narcotic solutions.
DZWatch understands that the suspects have been presented before the Public Prosecutor at the Blida Court. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the full extent of the network’s operations and to identify any additional individuals involved. This successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the Blida Police to combat drug trafficking and ensure public safety in the region.
