Desert Foxes Arrive in Cairo for Egypt Friendlies

The Algerian national football team (A’) has landed in Cairo, Egypt, ahead of two friendly matches against their Egyptian counterparts. The team arrived Monday evening in preparation for the games scheduled for November 14th and 17th at Al Salam Stadium. These friendlies serve as crucial preparation for both nations as they gear up for the FIFA Arab Cup, set to take place in Qatar from December 1st to 18th.

The Algerian Football Federation confirmed the team’s arrival on its official website. The Algerian delegation received a warm welcome from the Algerian Ambassador to Egypt, Mr. Mohamed Sofiane Brah.

National team coach Madjid Bougherra has called up 27 players for the Cairo training camp and the two friendly encounters. The squad sees the return of key players, including striker Islam Slimani (CFR Cluj, Romania) and playmaker Ryad Boudebouz (JS Kabylie).

Also included in the squad are international defender Abdelkader Bedrane (Damac FC, Saudi Arabia) and in-form CS Constantine striker, Nessim Goul.

The first match between Algeria and Egypt will take place on Friday, November 14th, at 2:00 PM (14:00) local time at Al Salam Stadium. The second match is scheduled for Monday, November 17th, at 4:00 PM (16:00) at the same venue.

Algeria, the reigning champions of the previous edition in 2021, will participate in the second edition of the FIFA Arab Cup. They are drawn into Group D alongside Iraq, the winner of the Bahrain vs. Djibouti playoff, and the winner of the Lebanon vs. Sudan match.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stages, which will include the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final match. DZWatch will provide comprehensive coverage of the friendlies and the upcoming FIFA Arab Cup.
